Our Director
This Washington DC native is a vast resource of talent, expertise and knowledge. His education ranges from his exposure to jazz as an adolescent, to his degree in Music from Howard University. He is the Director of the New Sewell Music Conservatory, Inc., founded in 1952 and located in North West Washington D.C. Mr. Jones started playing piano and organ in Junior high school. His formal training began at Roosevelt high school in Washington DC, after which Mr. Jones attended Berklee School of Music and then received a Bachelor of Music in jazz Studies from Howard University. Some of his personal mentors include Samual Finley, Clyde Parker, Kirk Stewart, John Malachi and Stanley Cowell.Mr. Jones has performed locally and nationally with artists such as vocalist Jean Carn, jazz recording artists Doug Carn, Wallace Roney and Sandy Lomax among others. He has produced several recordings Including "Super Rich"(One Man jam), "On The Road" (Alice), "Celebrate My Love For You" (Alice), and Frank Mendenhalls debut CD entitled "TIME". He is currently working on Baba Dontez Harris, second CD entitled "City" and Frank Mendenhall's second CD, as well as Mr. Jones own CD entitled "HARLAN, The Contemporary Keyboardist."
